  • Total Time: 33 minute
  • Yield: 4 servings (4 tacos) 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb lamb shoulder or leg, boneless and trimmed

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 2 tbsp Greek seasoning (oregano, thyme, garlic powder, onion powder, cinnamon)

  • 2 tbsp lemon juice

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 4 soft flour tortillas or corn taco shells

  • 1 cup fresh cucumber, diced

  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved

  • 1 cup lettuce, shredded

  • ½ red onion, thinly sliced

  • ½ cup tzatziki sauce (store-bought or homemade)

  • Fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Lamb: In a bowl, combine olive oil, Greek seasoning, lemon juice, and minced garlic. Coat the lamb with the marinade and let it sit for at least 30 minutes, preferably overnight.

  • Cook the Lamb: Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Grill the lamb for about 5-7 minutes per side or until the internal temperature reaches 145°F for medium-rare. Let the lamb rest for 5 minutes, then slice it thinly against the grain.

  • Prepare the Tacos: Warm the tortillas or taco shells in a dry skillet or oven for a few minutes. Place the warm tortillas on a serving platter.

  • Assemble the Tacos: Add the sliced lamb to each tortilla. Top with diced cucumbers, halved cherry tomatoes, shredded lettuce, and red onion slices. Drizzle generously with tzatziki sauce.

  • Garnish and Serve: Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Lamb Substitute: If you prefer not to use lamb, you can substitute with chicken, beef, or even a plant-based protein such as grilled mushrooms or tofu.

  • Make Ahead: You can marinate the lamb ahead of time (overnight is best) to infuse more flavor.

  • Tzatziki Sauce: Homemade tzatziki can be made by mixing Greek yogurt with grated cucumber, garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, and fresh dill. Alternatively, you can use store-bought tzatziki for convenience.

  • Vegetarian Option: Use grilled vegetables like zucchini, bell peppers, and eggplant instead of lamb for a vegetarian version of the tacos.

  • Sides: These tacos pair well with Greek salad, roasted potatoes, or pita bread with hummus.
