Ingredients
2 slices of sourdough bread (or your preferred type)
4 slices of deli ham (or cooked ham)
2 slices of Swiss cheese (or cheddar cheese)
1 tablespoon mustard (or mayonnaise)
Fresh lettuce (optional)
1 medium tomato, sliced (optional)
Pickles (optional)
1 tablespoon butter (for grilling, optional)
Instructions
Spread mustard (or mayo) evenly on one side of each slice of bread.
Layer the ham slices on one side of the bread and top with cheese.
Add fresh lettuce, tomato, and pickles if desired.
Place the second slice of bread on top to form a sandwich.
Heat a pan over medium heat and melt butter (optional). Grill the sandwich on both sides until golden and the cheese is melted, about 3-4 minutes per side.
Remove from heat, slice diagonally, and serve immediately.
Notes
You can substitute the ham with turkey, chicken, or a plant-based option for a healthier or vegetarian alternative.
Add extra vegetables like cucumbers, spinach, or bell peppers for added crunch and nutrition.
If you want a spicier kick, try using Dijon mustard instead of regular mustard.
