Honey Bun Cake – A Sweet and Simple Treat to Delight Your Taste Buds

  • 1 box of yellow cake mix (15.25 oz)

  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil

  • 4 large eggs

  • 1 cup sour cream

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  • 2 tablespoons milk

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.

  2. In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, vegetable oil, eggs, and sour cream. Mix until smooth.

  3. In a separate bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon.

  4. Pour half of the cake batter into the prepared pan. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the batter. Then, pour the remaining batter on top and sprinkle the rest of the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Swirl the cinnamon-sugar into the batter gently using a knife.

  5. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  6. While the cake is baking, prepare the glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract.

  7. Once the cake is done and has cooled slightly, drizzle the glaze over the top.

  8. Slice and enjoy!

Notes

  • For a healthier option, you can use Greek yogurt instead of sour cream.

  • You can make the glaze thicker or thinner by adjusting the milk content.

  • If you prefer a less sweet cake, you can reduce the amount of glaze.
