Ingredients
-
6-8 fresh lemons (for about 1 cup of lemon juice)
-
1 cup of white sugar (or your preferred sweetener)
-
5 cups of water
-
Ice cubes (as needed)
-
Fresh mint leaves (optional, for garnish)
-
Lemon slices (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
-
Juice the Lemons: Cut the lemons in half and juice them until you have about 1 cup of fresh lemon juice.
-
Make Simple Syrup: In a saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and 1 cup of sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar has dissolved. This will create a simple syrup.
-
Combine Lemon Juice and Syrup: In a large pitcher, mix the fresh lemon juice with the simple syrup.
-
Add Water: Pour in the remaining 4 cups of cold water and stir to combine.
-
Add Ice: Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the lemonade over the top.
-
Serve and Garnish: Optionally, garnish with fresh mint leaves and lemon slices. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
-
For a healthier version, you can use honey, stevia, or agave syrup instead of white sugar.
-
To prevent the lemonade from becoming too watered down, freeze extra lemonade or lemon slices in ice cubes to use as ice cubes for your drink.
-
Customize the flavor with additional fruits like strawberries, blueberries, or cucumbers
